2002 Spider D Hawg Hunt

The Third Annual 1969 Spider D Hawg Hunt was held April 26-28, 2002 near Woodsboro, TX on Bob Dillon's lease. Attending were the host -- Bob Dillon from Taft -- along with the hard core 'OL ARMY fighters -- Walt Dabney from Austin, Terry Howell from Amarillo, Paul Morris from Houston, Mac Phillips from Coldspring, Bill Richardson from Bulverde, Will Brunson from Marble Falls (Bill's son-in-law), and John Swain from Pasadena. Howell received the award for the longest drive and only game kill. Swain received a merit badge for the longest hike after his 4-wheeler broke down.

Dillon was the perfect host providing 4-wheelers and air-conditioned accommodations along with superb chow for lunches and suppers (I'd elaborate but it would just make you envious). Breakfast was highlighted by a special scrambled egg dish microwaved by Bill Richardson (a former Ramada Inn Chef). Even Charlie Brown (B2) had to harass us while his wife, Linda (Bob's sister) helped with the incredible seafood dinner Saturday night.

The Spiders took special pity on the javelinas and spared them again, although one turkey gobbler was dropped by Terry Howell assisted by Bob Dillon's calling. All enjoyed the old war stories, although we admit sometimes the topic wandered from the "days of yore" to more current stories about colonoscopies.
