My next project: A Twin Cam engine on a 125 lb. diet! Called a Gordini .....

The complete engine ready for installation.

Here is my new Gordini 807-13 engine as I received it ( in pieces ). I'm very pleased with my purchase.

This is a different view. The good things include: all parts balanced, new valve job w/ new valves, guides, a good "street porting ", completely reworked Gordini rods ( floating pins ), completely reworked crank w/ all new bearings, reground cam, new 10.5 : 1 pistons that are weight equalized, new chain, etc. etc. I'm going to need an alloy valve cover, alloy pan, header, 45DCOE carbs w/ alloy manifold, super starter etc. etc.

My latest project is a rear seal job. I was getting a couple of drips a week so I replaced the rear main and side seals. While the transmission was out ( I can remove it in 30 mins.) I had the flywheel resurfaced. I had "all" the flywheel surfaced to maintain the stepped relationship of the flywheel surfaces. The orange paint is so I can see the timing mark better. I also replaced the transmission output o-rings AGAIN
The alloy block mounted on my new engine stand, cleaned and ready for liners. Actually one liner is in ! The block is really a work of art.
Here are all the parts cleaned, machined and ready to assemble. Sorry about the clarity but I took these with our office digital camera. I'm trying to buy some 45DCOE's on Ebay, but strangely enough they sell for "over retail " in many cases ? No luck yet. The best new retail price I've found is from Overseas Warehouse and jetted to my specs too boot !
Detail shot of the parts. I've decided to use a deep steel oil pan. An alloy pan can't weigh any less.
The alloy valve cover. I bead blasted the paint off to produce an all alloy finish.
My intent is to finish this engine this fall, then buy a 1971 Europa S-2 to install it into. The flywheel here is a different one than the one above, it's balanced with the crank to cancel any eccentricity in mounting. ( see below! )
Here's the BAD stuff......
The completed engine with the new 45DCOE's, oil filter, and distributor.
Other side with the Banks SS header.
Front view. This engine is ready to install. I'm going to install it in the yellow S2 I now have. I will pull the 821 engine, do some service work, like a new clutch cable, and install this one. I'm now thinking that the 821 engine will go into another S2 and utilize the aluminum flywheel that I've paid for , but haven't received! I will use that car for autocross and the Gordini for driving.

This is a shot of me " at speed " a few years ago in my Caldwell D9. I sort of cut my restoration teeth on this car. I had a partner that had loads of automobile experience and I learned from him. This car was powered by a Kent crossflow with 45DCOE's and many other goodies. We started with an old "basket case" car and did a complete restoration. We finally converted it back to a stock Formula Ford when the SCCA classes allowed them. We built our own FF engines just for the experience.
